So, here goes nothing and everything, the best ever chapati I have tasted (and accompanying dips and curries as well) belongs to Restoran Santa Sweet House @ Jalan Sarikei, next to Tawakal Hospital.
Chapati is such a simple thing, how to be the best? One, straight off the pan piping hot, pick your chapati straight from the pan. Two, its the thinnest chapati ever, really really thin, I don't know how the guy does it. Three, sufficiently crispy on the outside and because its thin you don't get the doughy feel at all.
You can have it with their famous dhal or their even more famous sardine curry. The sardine curry has the right touch of spices and sweated onions that kinda pops in your mouth in a refreshing way.
The mutton curry is very very good as well.
But you know what was the best discovery ... its their teh tarik ... I can verify its the most pleasant one I ever had because they use fresh cow's milk..... OMG its that good.
I guess when the owner is a hands on guy, ultimate nice guy .... and you taste the chapati, .... if one can ensure that the simplest thing on their menu is already so damn good, you can bet that the rest would be deserving of equal grand treatment under the auspices of the owner.
Must try everything, the gulab jamun and osen chicken sambal are divine as well.
Yes, too good to be true, so many wonderful stuff all under one roof. Plus its a very muhibbah place too, all Malaysians once having taken their seats nod knowingly to one another, ... that "hey, so we are dining at the best place money can buy of chapati and curries" look.

Never knowingly had teh tarik with fresh cow's milk before. Will check this eatery out.
I believe the original Santa Restaurant is the one located along Jalan Tun H.S. Lee (Jalan Bandar) - more convenient for those working in the city centre. Check it out.
Try Jai Hind in Masjid India area KL, or the stall in the food court in Megan Avenue Jalan Yap Kwan Seng.
Will give Santa a run for his chutney.
lohos,
yes you are right, they both belong to the same family
F... You. Bloody hell! You make me hungrier than hungry. After bloating there, can go next door for treatment..hehehe
moya
tea-time treat at laxshmi bhavan in ss14 subang jaya. must try its masala tea (as well as its fresh cow's milk with bru coffee. yes, bru). it's the only place that offers what looks like chai kueh. or rather a whilte curry puff except that it's steamed. it's stuffed with lentils, coconut, brown sugar. forgot its tamil name.
Looks delicious!!!
Agree with you that Santa near Tawakal is the best. I found that out by accident when I went for a medical checkup some years ago. Although not a vegetarian, I always go for their vegetarian dishes, particularly one with peas, as I find them tastier than their meat dishes.
if enjoying together with C-HAN Herbal Coffee lagi best.
The best herbal coffee in town.
